Project Overview
MICA International Commercial is a commodities reseller and humanitarian logistics provider working with relief organizations in more than 30 countries, with offices across Qatar, Jordan, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Turkey. Its documented partners include IHH, Qatar Red Crescent, UNRWA, and Human Appeal, spanning campaigns from clean water delivery in Gaza to food parcel distribution in Libya.
I designed and built the site with Elementor and Elementor Pro on a Hello Elementor child theme, with JetEngine, JetThemeCore, and JetBlocks for Elementor structuring the Commodities, Aid Products, Logistics, Financial Instruments, Campaigns, and Gallery sections. WPML powers the full bilingual English/Arabic setup with true RTL layout for the Arabic version.
The Challenge
MICA needed to present a wide range of services, commodities, aid products, and logistics, to international partners, and to document its humanitarian campaigns credibly with real field footage, while serving both English and Arabic-speaking partners and donors without either language version feeling like an afterthought.
The Solution
I built a structured, multilingual Elementor site (Hello Elementor child theme, Elementor Pro, and the JetEngine, JetThemeCore, and JetBlocks for Elementor stack for dynamic content), with a campaign showcase of embedded Vimeo videos (water supply in Gaza, Udhia meat distribution in the West Bank and Gaza, food parcels in northern Gaza and Libya, Iftar meals on the Day of Arafah), a field-operations photo gallery built with Portfolio Filter Gallery, and a Partners of Success logo section featuring IHH, Qatar Red Crescent, UNRWA, and Human Appeal. WPML and WPML String Translation manage the bilingual content and RTL layout, Yoast SEO handles on-page optimization, Redirection keeps URLs clean after any restructuring, and UpdraftPlus runs automated backups.

Why build the Arabic version with WPML instead of a simple translation plugin?
WPML manages the translation relationship between English and Arabic content at the database level, but the RTL layout itself still has to be rebuilt section by section in Elementor, icon order, image-text splits, navigation, since WPML doesn't reverse layout automatically. That combination is what keeps a humanitarian organization's Arabic content, which partners and donors rely on for accuracy, in sync with the English version rather than drifting out of date.
Why embed real field videos instead of using stock photography for a humanitarian aid site?
Humanitarian organizations are evaluated on accountability as much as on need. Embedding real Vimeo footage of specific campaigns, a named water project in Gaza, a specific food parcel delivery in Libya, gives partners and donors verifiable proof that generic stock imagery can't provide.
